Maria Michałowska
Paris Photo 2025
November 13 – November 16, 2025
During this year’s Paris Photo fair, we will have the pleasure of presenting Maria Michałowska’s photographs from the 1970s. The artist uses landscape as a motif to create her own typologies and juxtapositions, exploring the relationships between different ways of viewing the world around us. The Topography of Landscape series, reminiscent of a herbarium, is a photographic typology of plants and their habitats. In Morphology of Landscape (created during the artist’s trip to New York in the mid-1970s), Michałowska, fascinated by the Manhattan skyline, explored the city’s architecture through repetition, rhythm, and abstraction.
Together, these works demonstrate Michałowska’s sensitive and methodical approach to observation and interpretation, drawing on the tradition of conceptualism.
